It is important to find out about your HIV diagnosis early, this provides the opportunity for better care and treatment. It also contributes to the reduced spread of HIV. Treated HIV is not transmitted during sex.
This is how the HIV test works
The test is taken with a finger-prick test. After a capillary blood test, you will receive your answer within 20 minutes. While waiting for the answer, there is an opportunity to talk and ask questions about HIV and various sexually transmitted diseases.
Early diagnosis is important

Our tests
We use so-called quick answer HIV tests, which means a finger-prick test and you recieve your answer within 20 minutes. The tests we use – Abbott Determine HIV-1/2 – are approved by the Swedish Medicines Agency and have the same reliability as the tests that are taken in the crease of the arm and analyzed in a laboratory.
When can I trust a negative test result?
The quick answer HIV test we use reacts to antibodies against HIV, which in the vast majority of people can be detected between three to six weeks after infection. The result is fully reliable only after eight weeks from the time of risk. (Six weeks if the sample is taken in the armpit.)
