Noaks Ark Östergötland

Noaks Ark Östergötland is a religiously and politically independent non-profit organisation, since 2008. We work to increase the well-being and quality of life of people living with HIV and prevent the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). By creating awareness and knowledge about HIV. STI and sexual and reproductive health and rights, we can relieve the social vulnerability in the society for people living with HIV and counteract the stigma and discrimination that leads to exclusion.

With us, you can get tested for HIV easily and free of charge with a quick test. After a finger prick test, you will receive your answer within 20 minutes. While waiting for the answer, there is an opportunity to talk and ask questions about HIV and various sexually transmitted diseases. We offer HIV testing both as a drop-in and through booked visits on non-weekend weekdays in Linköping and Norrköping.

A life without limitations

If you test negative for HIV, you don't have to worry anymore. If you test positive, you will receive medicine that will keep you healthy. HIV that is treated is not transmitted during sex. At many of Noaks Ark's local associations, you can take a quick answer HIV test. A finger-prick test - that's all.

Treated HIV is not transmitted through sex

The treatment is so effective that the amount of virus drops to immeasurable levels. Treated HIV is not transmitted through sex. The risk of HIV being transmitted during pregnancy or childbirth is very low if the mother is treated in good time. It is uncertain how high the risk of infection is if you share injection tools. Breastfeeding, blood transfusions, and organ transplants are still considered a risk even if HIV is treated.

How does an HIV test work?

An HIV test is a blood sample taken in the armpit or through a finger-prick test. A sample taken in the armpit is sent to a laboratory for analysis and you will receive the answer after about a week. A sample taken from the finger, a so-called quick answer HIV test, is analyzed directly in the test room and you get the result after about 20 minutes. At Noaks Ark we offer quick answer HIV tests. It's free and you can remain anonymous.

About us

Ever since the start in 1986, we have worked in the reality where HIV exists. Incomparable knowledge and experience have been gathered under one roof for more than three decades. We bring together a network of regionally active Noaks Ark associations in Sweden that offer activities and support in various forms for those living with HIV and those close to them. Together, we work to prevent HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. We want to contribute to increased knowledge and awareness of HIV through information and education. Several of our Noaks Ark associations offer quick answer HIV testing.

Our counsellors have over 30 years of experience working with HIV. We are here for you on weekdays (excluding public holidays) from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM via phone and chat. Our chat is also open on Wednesdays (excluding public holidays) from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
