Board of Directiors
The Board of Directors of Noaks Ark Stockholm is elected by the association’s members at the annual meeting. The board consists of elected representatives with overall strategic responsibility for the association and its activities. In particular, the Board holds ultimate responsibility for finances and the work environment.
Board positions are primarily voluntary and unpaid. The Board’s time, commitment, and expertise are highly valued and essential to the organization.

Nominate Candidates for 2027-2028
Would you like to help make a difference in HIV-related work in Stockholm? You can nominate yourself or others for positions on the Board of Directors, the Nominating Committee, or as association auditor ahead of the 2027 annual meeting.
Taking on an elected role requires time and commitment to the association’s work. The Board is responsible for the organization’s strategic development and work environment, and you are expected to attend regular board meetings (approximately 10 times per year), as well as participate in other collaborative and representative activities throughout the year. The Board typically consists of around five members, including the chair.
The Board is responsible for the organization’s strategic direction and holds ultimate responsibility as the employer, including responsibility for finances and the work environment. Noaks Ark Stockholm is a stable, respected, and influential organization, and we are looking for individuals who can support its continued development and contribute knowledge and networks in areas such as advocacy, research, and strategic work.
The organization has approximately 10 employees, 15 hourly staff, and 40 volunteers, with an annual budget of around SEK 10 million.
To be elected, you must be or become a member of Noaks Ark Stockholm (membership fee: SEK 25 per year) and must not have any record of debt with the Swedish Enforcement Authority (Kronofogden).
The role is carried out primarily on a voluntary basis, without compensation. A limited amount, equivalent to half of the Swedish price base amount, may be allocated in accordance with the Nominating Committee’s proposal and the decision of the annual meeting.
The term of office is two years.
As chair, you are the organization’s primary representative and lead the work of the Board throughout the year.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Board and its meetings, promoting strategic thinking and well-informed decision-making
- Develop and implement effective board processes and policies
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with board members and senior management
- Work closely with the Executive Director to support the organization’s vision and goals
- The term of office is two years

- Experience in a leadership role on a board or in a similar position
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and influence others
- A solid understanding of organizational governance and current best practices
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Requirements
- Experience in a leadership role, with personnel responsibility or equivalent experience
As a board member, you contribute to the overall leadership and direction of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Actively participate in regular board meetings and contribute your experience and expertise

- Oversee the organization’s finances and ensure compliance with laws and regulations

Merits

As a member of the Nominating Committee, you play an important role in supporting the organization’s long-term development. The committee works independently and is responsible for identifying and proposing candidates for elected roles for the upcoming year.
The workload is greatest during the fall and winter, when you work together with the committee to develop role profiles, interview candidates, and prepare proposals for the next Board.
You will receive support from the Executive Director and the Board in carrying out your role.
Experience in recruitment, a strong network within relevant fields, or a structured approach to work is considered an asset.
This role is voluntary and unpaid. The term of office is one year. The Nominating Committee typically consists of three members, one of whom serves as convener.
As an association auditor, you review the work of the Board and the organization on an ongoing basis throughout the year. You represent the members’ interests and help ensure the organization operates properly, and the Board fulfills its responsibilities.
You do not audit the financial accounts or bookkeeping; this is carried out by an authorized auditor.
This role is voluntary and unpaid. The term of office is one year.
The Nominating Committee reviews all suggestions, applications, and nominations received. Based on the submitted information, they conduct a selection process and may carry out interviews where relevant.
The process takes place on an ongoing basis.
