Health Equity for Migrants and key Population in Europe
Noaks Ark Mosaik was represented by Abimbola at a recent European Health Equity Roundtable in London, convened to bring together community leaders, clinicians, researchers, and policymakers working across prevention, diagnosis, and access to care.
The meeting focused on persistent health inequities affecting Black communities, migrants, LGBTQ+ populations, and women of colour, with particular attention to gaps in HIV prevention and PrEP access across Europe. Discussions moved beyond description of inequalities toward practical, actionable solutions, including how services can be made more responsive, culturally grounded, and easier to navigate for those most often left behind.
What stood out was the shared recognition that equity cannot be achieved through policy alone. It requires trust, co-creation with communities, and sustained investment in prevention systems that are designed with, not just for, affected populations. There was also a strong emphasis on strengthening early diagnosis pathways and ensuring that innovation in HIV prevention translates into real-world access.
For Sweden, the reflections were especially relevant. Despite strong public health infrastructure, gaps remain in reaching certain migrant and minority communities, and in ensuring equitable uptake of newer prevention tools such as PrEP. The discussions reinforced the importance of bridging community-led work with clinical and policy systems in a more structured and intentional way.
The roundtable closed on a constructive note, with a shared sense that progress is possible when sectors work in alignment. For Noaks Ark Mosaik, the engagement reaffirmed the value of continued advocacy, partnership, and community-led approaches in shaping more inclusive health systems in Sweden and beyond.
