Insights from the Boundaries Study Visit

On 19 March, we had the privilege of welcoming Dr. Signe as part of the Boundaries Study. Her research, rooted in migration, medicine, and health, examines how systems respond to people navigating complex legal and social conditions.

Through conversations, interviews, and shared reflections, the visit offered a deeper understanding of how healthcare, policy, and lived experience intersect. The study includes qualitative interviews within healthcare and medical education, participant observation in humanitarian and civil society settings, and analysis of public discourse on mandatory reporting.

What resonated most was the human dimension — how policies and structures shape everyday lives, often in ways that remain unseen. Encounters like this remind us why humanitarian health work matters: not only in theory, but in practice, where dignity, trust, and access to care are at stake. This exchange strengthens our shared commitment to building more just, responsive, and inclusive health systems.
