We are thinking of you, are you thinking about HIV?
December 1 is World Aids Day, the international day of AIDS. Noaks Ark Norra Norrland, RFSU Umeå, Hiv-Sverige, Posithiva Gruppen Norr and RFSL Umeå are celebrating this together – by letting the red ribbon that draws attention to HIV/AIDS and HIV prevention shine on Rådhustorget in Umeå for three weeks.
November 30th between 12–4 pm (subject to change due to weather) we welcome all Umeå residents to Rådhustorget to mark World AIDS Day together. Alongside the installation Red Ribbon, the organizations will be offering mulled wine, gingerbread cookies and to take a quiz about HIV with the opportunity to win a goodie bag. Come by, warm up for a while and take the opportunity to ask questions – or just say hello!
The aim is to spread knowledge, reduce stigma and remind people that HIV is now a treatable chronic infection. With effective treatment, the viral load is so low that HIV cannot be transmitted – something many people still don’t know.
Red Ribbon
The Red Ribbon light installation arrived in Umeå on November 24 and will remain on the square until December 15. The installation is owned by Hiv-Sverige and symbolizes solidarity with people living with HIV.
